Ahuizotl by harwicks-art Ahuizotl by harwicks-art
I still have trouble pronouncing that name. In any event, have a fictional villain, even within the already fictional world... Daring Do was a fun little invention, and I enjoyed the pulp adventure scenes (complete with full-on action sequences) and over-the-top villain Ahuizotl as her nemesis. For those who haven't been following the comics, it's strongly suggested in the last issue via background hints that Twilight's mom is the author of the Daring Do series... so I guess this guy sprang from her head. (And I suppose the Aztecs deserve a great deal of credit as well... or whatever the pony equivalent might be.)

That character has quite a cool concept. I didn't get that far in the series....

But anyways, he looks well done.
Good job.

I still cant believe he's real, I like him but still.

I feel like this guy is the most underrated character in the entire series by far. In fact, those who are underrated or misunderstood turn out to be my favorite characters.

I think I'll add to the fact that his role in the aztec myths takes him to a whole new level: A lurker who lives near water zones and who likes eating nails, teeth, eyes and flesh. He preys on his victims in order to drown them. At least his victims should consider themselves lucky, for they'll be honored by the aquatic god Tlaloc.

There's some Egyptian in there too, I think, but for the rest I just say Mesoamerican because I get confused by all the different eras and regions. ;) The art, cultures, histories, references/allusions, etc. are way too underrepresented in fiction, IMO. Then again, considering how some things get "modernized" maybe that's a good thing. Marvel took a hammer to the Norse mythology, and Hollywood probably would make Coyolxauhqui into the goddess of magic "whose mother sometimes embarrassed her." (Really, in the end she was just a very mixed up girl.)

I see that Ahuizotl doesn't play nice with his frame either. Villains, seriously! Still, he's a fine looking evil villain, with creepy snout-eyes and all the fine accessories. Too bad his ear tip was cut off but it probably serves him right.

The great thing about this character design is that you keep looking for the eyes and OH GOD THEY'RE NOT WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE...

I still love how they based him off of an Aztec god. XD

Very nicely done, btw. :D

Oh my god, if only I hadn't read the last issue while distracted at the first time, and tired at the second time!
That completely slipped my mind because of that!
When I read the description I immediately had to check it out and god, it's true!
She really is it!
I hadn't expected that Twilight's mother is so famous!
And also not that she really knows what is cool!
I wonder if this will be ever mentioned in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?
Just some time ago, I read somewhere that something should go on with Daring Do in the fourth season that has to do with his author.
I'm excited if we see more of Twilight's mother in that season!

Nice! He's really looking... well, I daren't say "good", but you made him look as good as anyone could!

A different-color frame, too, isn't it? Very nice.

Nicely done, the Daring Do really was an interesting little thing to add to the series, and an ahuizotl as the enemy was an nice addition as well :)
